Cole Anderson returns to the Timberwolf Plastics No. 55 this weekend for the Champion Racing Association (CRA) and Southern Super Series (SSS) North/South Shootout at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville. This marks the Minnesota driver’s second Super Late Model start at the historic track, but veteran crew chief Bond Suss has helped coach many laps and even earned a trip to Victory Lane in 2010.
“I’m really excited to head back to Nashville,” said Anderson. “We are all hoping for a strong run and I think that is possible. I haven’t had the best luck at Nashville, but Bond has plenty of experience at Nashville and having him helping me will be a great advantage and I look forward to learning from him.”
“We are excited to have Cole back in the BSR No. 55 this weekend,” said Suss. “Nashville is such a cool racetrack with a lot of history and I always enjoy going there. I’ve had success there in the past with other drivers and I am confident we will be able to put together a strong package for Cole and hopefully it will play out well after 100 laps.”
The Minnesota driver only has one other Super Late Model start at the Tennesse track, bringing home a 15th place finish. Though he doesn’t have a lot of laps at the Fairgrounds, Anderson is confident he can learn from his 2016 run and bring home a strong finish Saturday.
“What I can take away from the previous race is to be easy on the tires. I think before I was going too hard in the beginning and I ended up slipping and sliding around for at least half the race, said Anderson.
“Like every track, tire conservation will be huge,” said Suss. “When you have 100 straight laps you need to take care of your stuff and be there at the end. That’s the plan going into the race on Saturday and hopefully it will play out in our favor.”
This weekend marks Anderson’s second time behind the wheel of the BSR Timberwolf Plastics No. 55. The team rallied back from early adversary at The Rattler in mid-March for a solid tenth place finish. Suss and his team look to build on that performance again this weekend.
“We had some early issues at South Alabama that really set us back early in the race,” said Suss. “I thought we had a strong car and we worked really well with Cole, so I’m looking forward to hacing him back in the car this weekend and continuing to improve as a team.”
