Bond Suss Racing (BSR) looks to end the 2017 season on a high note with Spencer Davis behind the wheel for the Snowball Derby. This marks Davis’ fifth event with BSR and the team has earned top-five finishes in each of their previous races. The Georgia driver has really connected with the BSR team this year and that brings a lot of confidence, on both sides, to Pensacola, FL.

“Every race with Spencer we’ve been top five,” said Suss. “I’ve always believed in the motto you gotta race in the top three and your wins will come. Some days you’ll have dominant cars and other days, guys get some better finishes. We seem to really connect to Spencer. He gives super good feedback in practice, so it’s really easy to know where you need to work on the car, so I’m really excited about it. Obviously, it’s a super tough race, a lot of good cars, so you can have a good car and not finish good or you can have an average car and make it a better car and then have a real good day, but I’m really looking forward to it.”

“Morale is really high right now,” said Davis. “I know our Derby car is good and all it needs to do is gain one spot from the All-America 400, so we’ll go into the first weekend in December with our heads held very high and hopefully we get to bring that Tom Dawson trophy home.”

The 50th Annual Snowball Derby will be Davis’ sixth attempt in the event, earning a career-high finish last year with a 15th place run.

Suss, however, has seen plenty of success at the biggest Super Late Model race of the year. He’s been on top of the box more than a dozen times and owns wins in 2009 and 2013.

“That race down there is always about if you have a really good car it doesn’t matter if you’re in race trim or qualifying trim, you’re gonna be fast,” said Suss. “My gut tells me with the connection Spencer has had with our team that I don’t think we’ll lack speed when it needs to be there, so looking forward to it. It’s definitely one of the toughest races to win. I’ve been fortunate enough to win it a few times and we’ll go in with the best strategy possible and we have a talented driver behind the wheel.”

“Definitely excited to head down there with Bond,” said Davis. “We raced really good there last year with our own family stuff; qualified third and ran top ten all day, so definitely looking to improve on that. I feel anytime Bond is on top of the box we definitely have the car to beat. Even if we don’t, I feel like we can make it the car to beat throughout the race. Morale is very high, so I’m excited.”

The 50th Annual Snowball Derby kicks off Wednesday with hauler parking followed by three practice sessions on Thursday. Friday is a big day with an additional practice session and then qualifying, where the top 30 cars will be locked into Sunday’s 300-lap event. Saturday brings additional practice and the last chance race. Sunday the 50th Annual Snowball Derby is set to go green at 2:00pm CST.
