The Bond Suss Racing (BSR) team brought home its highest finish of the season Friday night at Caraway Speedway.  It was Tanner Thorson who was behind the wheel for the fifth time this season and piloted the JBL Toyota Racing No. 55 to a second place finish.

“It was a strong weekend for us,” said Suss.  “The car had good speed during practice and we were able to back that up in qualifying and in the race.  It was definitely the strongest weekend we have put together this year with Tanner.”

Thorson earned his first career Pro All Star Series (PASS) pole after putting down the fastest lap in qualifying.  The top ten qualifiers then redrew for their starting position, with Thorson pulling a ten.  The Nevada native quickly moved his Camry towards the front of the field, picking up four sports in the first four laps.

From there Thorson continued to work his way forward and by lap 43 was up to the third position.  Thorson held steady in that position for the next 70 laps.  With five laps to go the second place car, Tate Fogelman, lost his motor, putting Thorson side by side with leader Matt Craig for a late race restart.

Thorson got a good restart in his No. 55 Camry, but was unable to make a move on Craig over the closing laps.  The runner-up finish is the best Super Late Model finish of his career and a season high for BSR.

“I’m really happy with how the whole weekend went,” said Suss.  “To put the car on the pole was exciting and then I thought Tanner did a good job during the race.  Starting tenth was tough, but he fought his way to the front.  We were definitely a top three car and things played into our favor for a solid second place run.”

BSR returns to action May 18-21 with Cole Anderson behind the wheel for the highly anticipated US Short Track Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway.

Thorson’s next Super Late Model race will be for the PASS race at Concord Speedway on Friday, May 26th.
